The dance (test post)

By farmgal | May 17, 2019 | 0 Comments

Ah Fall. Everything is pulling back its energy, getting ready to sleep for the winter. Sap is no longer running in the deciduous trees, and the leaves are almost all on the ground, done with their job for the year. Seed heads have replaced the colorful flowers of summer, ready to drop into the soil,…

Busy Times at the farm

By farmgal | January 5, 2019 | 0 Comments

In my last post I told you that it had been a very busy time for me. Too busy to take time to go through pictures and post, so I thought I would take the time now, to show you a little of what I’ve been doing. Besides my “have to do” projects, like roofing…

Whoa!!! How do you slow down this thing called life???

By farmgal | December 13, 2018 | 0 Comments

I had such big aspirations. I took loads of “look how pretty my flowers look in the fall” pictures. I took photos of 2 wonderful getaways that mom, sis and I were able to escape to. I took photos of the colorful fall leaves, and really, I was planning on sharing all of this wonderfulness…

What’s all the whining about????

By farmgal | October 12, 2018 | 2 Comments

There is a lot of whining going on at Sidehill farm lately. Well, actually wine-ing…. and a bit of whining. A few days before I was to leave for a relaxing trip in the mountains, I got word that the grapes that I had said I wanted (which was way back when I thought I…

A wooly day

By farmgal | September 20, 2018 | 0 Comments

Despite the perfect weather for working outside, and despite the fact that I have so much to do outside right now, I decided to take an afternoon to process some fiber. My plan was to card some of the wool from our shetland ram, so I could spin it to ply with the weird color…

By farmgal | September 19, 2018 | 0 Comments

Flowers, flowers, flowers

By farmgal | September 18, 2018 | 3 Comments

After a week and a half of rainy days, the sun finally decided to show itself. It was the perfect temperature to work outside. I finished cleaning up the old berry area that I had started on the last dry day. It feels good crossing that job off my list! I spent the rest of…

Enjoying This Fall Weather

By farmgal | September 15, 2018 | 2 Comments

I don’t know about anyone else, but after a summer of full of warm, sunshiny days, I welcome this bit of rainy weather. For a few days at least, I can use the excuse that I must stay inside and putter because it is wet outside. (I know, I do not melt, so i could go…

A is for Apple

By farmgal | September 14, 2018 | 0 Comments

The farm has been a busy place this last week and a half, with the sweet scent of apples filling the air. One of our apple trees put on a bumper crop this year, it’s fruit crisp and tart…. perfect for all sorts of good things. This is amazing, since last year we thought it…

About this site

I decided to start this site, because I love to write, and want a place where I can write what is on my mind and document what is happening here at the farm.  I hope that this will help me see what I do here, as if I’m looking through the eyes of someone else, because as it stands now, I feel like I am treading water, and not living my life to its fullest. Hopefully you, the reader, will get a bit of amusement and maybe some encouragement to live life on purpose, where ever you are.
